KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Police Department and Downtown Knoxville Alliance are starting a campaign to get the public's help naming three horses that are part of KPD's Mounted Patrol.

KPD said the draft crosses arrived in Knoxville in late July and are in training. The new horses will be taking part in some patrol operations with trained Mounted Patrol Officers over the coming weeks.

The new horses include:

A black 4-year-old Morgan/Percheron cross

A black and white 5-year-old Quarter Horse/Belgian-Percheron cross

A black 6-year-old Quarter Horse/Percheron cross

Name submissions will be accepted online through September 5. Once the submission period closes, a selection committee will review the entries and choose three names.
