NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - North Charleston Police are asking the public to avoid an area where what they are calling an “active incident” is being investigated.

Police say they are at the scene in the area of Montague Avenue and Gaynor Avenue and are asking the public to avoid the area until further notice.

They have not yet described the nature of the incident, whether anyone has been injured or whether anyone is in custody.

Police said drivers can take Rivers Avenue to Remount Avenue or to Durant Avenue to avoid the police presence.
