ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Brady Norton arrived at Michigan hoping to prove he could play at the Big Ten level.
Not only is the product of the Football Championship Subdivision, the former NCAA Division I-AA, going to get that chance this fall along the Wolverines’ offensive line, but he’s moving inside to do it.
Norton, who played two seasons as an offensive tackle at Cal Poly, will start Michigan’s season opener on Saturday against New Mexico (7:30 p.m., NBC) at right guard, head coach Sherrone Moore announced Monday.
“Nate Efobi and him were going neck-and-neck (in practice),” Moore said on the “Inside Michigan Football” radio show. “Nate Efobi will play; he’s earned that right, that opportunity.
“But Brady will start there.”
