CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - South Carolina is at risk of losing nearly $1.6 million in sex education funding if it does not remove curriculum content on gender ideology, according to the Trump administration.
The Palmetto State is just one of 46 states and territories whose Personal Responsibility Education Program, better known as PREP, grant funding has been threatened under this directive.
PREP, per the Department of Health and Human Services, is a federal effort to reduce teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections by funding evidence-based programs that educate young people about abstinence and contraception.
