SUMTER, S.C. (WIS) - A man is now facing charges after allegedly stealing from a construction site.
The Sumter Police Department says 38-year-old Jesse Preast was arrested on Friday after officers stopped a car that surveillance cameras captured near the construction site around the time of two burglaries.
Sumter police say Preast allegedly stole $3,000 in materials on Aug. 20. He then reportedly went back to the site two days later, but didn’t steal anything.
Preast is charged with distributing meth, possessing cocaine and marijuana, unlawfully carrying a gun, and more. Police said a gun, drugs and tools he’s accused of using in the burglaries were found in his car.
Preast is being held in the Sumter County Detention Center.
