EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio — As Shaw High School’s annual alumni weekend approaches, city leaders in East Cleveland are sending a clear message.

“Don't come over here with what you did last year. That will not be tolerated,” said East Cleveland’s mayor, Lateek Shabazz.

The alumni weekend events kick off on Thursday.

“The Cardinal family is far and wide, you know and everybody comes back to have a good time,” said Mansell Baker, East Cleveland’s safety director. “The approved activities are still going forward.”

Last Labor Day weekend, after the reunion’s official events wrapped up, there were three separate shootings . The violence resulted in 10 people shot. One woman was killed. One East Cleveland legislator blamed the shootings on a lack of police presence , accusing then-mayor Br
