The Patriots are moving on from Cole Strange.
The 2022 first-round guard was released on cut-down day Tuesday after struggling to find much traction during training camp this summer. Competing along an interior offensive line with center and left guard openings, Strange was outplayed by rookie Jared Wilson, Garrett Bradbury, and Ben Brown.
Strange started all 17 games as a rookie and then was hit by some tough injury luck in the 2023 season. Playing his best football, Strange suffered a torn patellar tendon and needed to teach himself to walk again. The recovery took a full year.
