CORVALLIS, Ore.- Oregon State is just days away from opening its 2025 season at home against Cal, and all eyes are on the Beavers’ revamped offense. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Reser Stadium, where the Beavs will debut Duke transfer Maalik Murphy as their new starting quarterback.

Murphy, who joined Oregon State in the offseason, has now gone through both spring and fall camp under offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Ryan Gunderson. Unlike Cal’s true freshman starter, Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, Murphy enters the matchup with valuable experience, having started for the Blue Devils last season.
