As the school year kicks into gear, there are changes in the classroom. Ohio is the first state in the US to require K-12 public schools to adopt artificial intelligence policies.
Artificial intelligence can do a lot of things, like provide a writing prompt for an essay or ideas of characters to talk about. But it can also write the entire essay, taking away kids' development of critical thinking skills. So, when does AI go too far and what exactly are the risks? Advertisement
“The technology of the time is AI,” said Rebekah Michael, Executive Staff Director at the Ohio Cyber Range Institute. “If we're using AI to help write our papers, which is a great tool, we don't know what that source of information is. So, it is something that we're addressing.”
