ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) -A series of newly painted crosswalks at intersections along Gravois Avenue is just one example of recent improvements that the city and Missouri Department of Transportation have coordinated on in recent years.
Gravois, which MODOT maintains, is frequently named by transportation advocates as one of the most dangerous traffic corridors in the region for both drivers and pedestrians.
A MODOT study of incidents along the corridor from 2020 to 2024 found 22 fatalities, 8 of which were pedestrians. Another 77 people were seriously injured, 16 of which were pedestrians.
