ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (First Alert 4) -Dontea Anthony is a student at Hazelwood Central High School, where he plays football and runs track. He’s currently being treated in the burn unit at Mercy Hospital, St. Louis.

Tarence Hardy is Anthony’s uncle.

“He’s heavily sedated. But has a long recovery,” he said.

According to Hardy, the teen was the only one in the house, of the five family members who live at 13830 Evan Aire Drive at the time of Monday’s explosion. He said Anthony told his family he heard a clicking sound right before the blast.

“That’s when the roof fell in. It blocked his exit out of the home. So, he literally had to go through the fire in order to get out of the house,” said Hardy.

Hardy said his nephew has burns covering 85% of his body.
