MADISON, Ala. - The city of Madison has elected a new mayor, with Ranae Bartlett winning the position.
Bartlett, who is currently the District Five City Council member, secured 56 percent of the vote, totaling 4,581 votes, and defeated two other candidates.
"We listened to Madison voters and we visited their homes," Bartlett said. "Over and over today I heard from Madison residents who showed up and said you were the only one that came to our house."
Bartlett expressed gratitude for the volunteers who supported her campaign and emphasized her commitment to the community.
"I'm really excited about helping our school system continue to thrive," Bartlett said. She highlighted the importance of investing in schools as Madison continues to grow.
