SIOUX CITY, Iowa (Gray Media Iowa State Capitol Bureau) - Democrats are celebrating Catelin Drey’s win (results are still unofficial) in Iowa Senate District 1 in Tuesday’s special election. The victory would erase Republicans’ “supermajority” in the senate, although Republicans still enjoy the wide margin in the house.
Drey, a strategic communications professional from Sioux City, defeated Christopher Prosch, a media consulting company owner from Sioux City, in the special election to replace Rocky DeWitte, the Republican who passed away from pancreatic cancer in June.
The number 11 became an unofficial theme of the election results:
Drey beat Prosch by 11 points.
