STATESVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Significant progress has been made on upgrades at the Statesville Regional Airport.

Statesville city leaders shared the latest development Wednesday of the facility getting a $9 million facelift that will see six new hangars and a brand-new terminal.

The third-floor balcony roof is complete, while elevators and rough-in electrical work are essentially finished, and crews are advancing with guard-rail posts, drywall and framing for curtain walls.

Site improvements are also moving forward, including curb and gutter work, stormwater pond clearing and ongoing cleanup.

The project is slated to be completed in mid-December, to allow for storefront installation that will keep the building weather-tight.
