SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Springfield Catholic community is mourning after a tragic shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis on Wednesday morning left two children dead and several others injured.
The incident occurred around 8 a.m. when 23-year-old Robin Westman opened fire, injuring nineteen people, including sixteen children. Two children, aged 8 and 10, were killed in the attack.
Father Andrew Williams of the Catholic Campus Ministry in Springfield expressed the community's grief and emphasized the importance of prayer in the wake of the tragedy. "As soon as we heard, we were actually in a staff meeting and there was a stop to pray for the families and to pray for all those who were involved," he said.
