GERLACH, Nev. (KOLO) - The body of a white man was found in a pool of blood at Burning Man on Saturday, Aug. 30, at 9:14 p.m., as the main event where the “Man” burns was beginning, according to a Pershing County Sheriff’s Office news release.

The body has been taken to the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office. His identity is unknown.

“Although this act appears to be a singular crime, all participants should always be vigilant of their surroundings and acquaintances,” Pershing County Sheriff Jerry Allen said.

The incident unfolded when a Burner flagged down a deputy and reported that a man was lying in a pool of blood.

Deputies and Bureau of Land Management rangers went to the campsite and found a body lying in blood.
