JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Washington County (TN) Sheriff's Office (WCSO) continues its extra patrols in downtown Johnson City, nearly a month since it started. News Channel 11 got an inside look at how those patrols operate via a Saturday night ride-along.

"So, normally, we meet up for a quick roll call just across the street," WCSO Corporal Jacob Byrd said. "Normally, we're mostly on foot patrol, would walk around through the downtown businesses, make contact with the owners and nightlife for people to come out and talk to them and engage in community."

The patrols are on Friday and Saturday nights, starting at 10 p.m. and continuing until 4 a.m. the next morning. Deputy Chris Caudill told News Channel 11 that there are a few things they look for when on patrol.
