LONDON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The London City Council has appointed a new member just days before a pivotal vote on whether to remove Mayor Randall Weddle from office.

On Tuesday, council members voted to appoint Donna Gail Wilson-House to fill the seat vacated by Charles Stacy Benge, who resigned last week. Benge was the only member who voted against bringing 14 charges of misconduct and neglect against Mayor Weddle, which set up his upcoming impeachment hearing.

Mayor Weddle has accused the council of stacking the board against him and says he intends to run for re-election in 2026 regardless of the outcome.

The removal hearing is scheduled for Friday, September 5, at the Laurel County Judicial Center.
