BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - It’s called Louisiana lockup. It’s a refurbished camp in Angola now housing ICE detainees.
Governor Jeff Landry and members of the Trump administration call the detainees housed there “the worst of the worst.” They said these detainees are murderers, drug users, and convicted of other crimes. WAFB was given access to part of the facility.
Hundreds of ICE detainees could call the cells inside the facility home. 51 are already there. Each room has a single bed and a metal toilet.
There are also kennel-looking cages in the facility. No one from the Governor’s office, Homeland Security, or the Department of Corrections would explain their use. They did highlight the barbed wire and the fencing to keep the detainees in the facility.
