A report from the National Weather Service was issued on Saturday at 4:06 p.m. for strong thunderstorms until 4:30 p.m. for Suffolk County.
Residents may experience wind gusts of up to 40 mph.
"At 4:06 p.m., Doppler radar tracked strong thunderstorms along a line extending from Derby to Orange to near Milford to 7 miles south of Stratford. Movement was east at 95 mph," says the weather service. "Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects."
Locations impacted by the alert include New Haven, Milford, Wallingford, Shelton, New London, Guilford, Southold, Clinton, Groton, Old Saybrook, Durham, Salem, Chester, Sag Harbor and Fishers Island.
According to the weather service, "If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch r
