A town south of Red Deer saw some action downtown when a wanted offender who had failed to show up for multiple court dates was spotted, leading to an on-foot pursuit and an additional charge of assault on a police officer.

Innisfail RCMP had been searching for an offender who was wanted on outstanding warrants for assault, resist police officer, mischief and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. The offender had failed to appear for his drug trafficking charge on three separate occasions.

On August 25, Innisfail RCMP spotted the man walking in downtown Innisfail. The offender attempted to hide behind a parked vehicle to avoid detection but was confronted by officers.
