BANGOR, Maine — City leaders in Bangor said a plan to tackle unpaid parking tickets has already brought in thousands of dollars—but the plan hasn't even been rolled out yet.

"It kind of suction cups to the windshield and that blocks the driver's field of view," Amanda Curry, the assistant manager of PCI Municipal Services , said.

In July, the City of Bangor made plans to introduce the Barnacle parking enforcement system to pursue drivers with unpaid parking tickets.

"It is time to roll out the Barnacle," Curry said.

The high-tech device, a step up from the traditional "boot," can only be removed by paying your parking tickets.

"Once you put in the code provided, it will release itself, and you take the barnacle off," Curry said.
