EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — Less than 24 hours after the assassination of Charlie Kirk, students at the University of Southern Indiana have united — holding a rally to honor him and condemn political violence in the country.
“This has just been a really disgusting year for political violence,” rally organizer Robert Kruse said. “And we all want to see the end of it. I don't think anybody wants to see anything like this.”
The death of Charlie Kirk was shocking and sudden, including for those in the Tri-State. University of Southern Indiana alum Trent Thompson served as the president of the "USI College Republicans" group for years, and wanted to show his alma mater how to speak out and get involved.
“It pretty much shook me to my core and I wanted to do something about it,” Thompson said.
