Nearly 100,000 electric vehicles from Toyota, Lexus and Subaru are being recalled due to a software defect that could impair windshield defrosting in cold weather, according to a joint safety notice from the automakers .
The recall affects 94,320 vehicles for the 2023-25 model years, including the Toyota bZ4X, Lexus RZ 300e and RZ 450e and Subaru Solterra. According to the notice, the issue stems from a software malfunction in the HVAC system’s electrical control unit, which may prevent the defroster from clearing frost, ice, or fog from the windshield.
