UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — As the No. 2 team in the nation, Penn State’s solid yet lackluster performances against nonconference opponents were never going to fall on deaf ears. And while the Nittany Lions were able to confidently put away Villanova in a 52-6 win, the noise regarding if Penn State has what it takes to match up against other national championship contenders after its performance on Saturday grows ever louder.

The Blue and White got into a groove early, blending a mix of accurate downfield passes and powerful rushes from the backfield. Nick Singleton was the one to cap off a 78-yard drive and punch it into the end zone for his fourth rushing touchdown of the year.
