A fresh Covid-19 strain is spreading throughout the UK, rapidly establishing itself as the predominant variant in recent weeks.
During the seven-day period leading up to September 3, England recorded 1,541 cases, based on the most recent UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) figures.
This represents a 7.1 per cent rise week-on-week, particularly for instances of the Stratus (XFG) strain.
The World Health Organization classifies Stratus as a "variant under monitoring," though it isn't believed to cause more serious illness.
