A fresh Covid variant dubbed XFG and given the nickname "Stratus" has emerged as the predominant strain across the UK, as the virus continues its ongoing evolution and transformation. Medical professionals are keeping a watchful eye on all mutations in preparation for the demanding winter period when respiratory illnesses will place enormous pressure on the NHS .
