FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- A Lake City man was arrested by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division last week on several animal abuse and fighting charges, the agency said Wednesday.
Douglas McFadden, 41, was charged with four counts of ill treatment of animals, four counts of animal fighting, and one count of criminal conspiracy. He was booked into the Florence County Detention Center on Sept. 11 and released Sept. 13 on a $45,000 bond.
SLED conducted a search and found several pit bulls that had been subjected to "unnecessary pain and suffering due to [McFadden's] actions," arrest warrants read. One of the dogs was tethered by a heavy logging chain and had no shelter.
