BENNETTSVILLE, S.C. (WBTW) -- 21 inmates at Evans Correctional Institution in Bennettsville received certifications and degrees on Tuesday, all with 4.0 GPAs.

Northeastern Technical College is one of over 60 colleges across the nation to participate in the Department of Corrections Second Chance Pell Program, and is the only college in South Carolina to do so.

While other institutions offer college in prison programs, not all are funded by the Pell Grant program. This program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, allows incarcerated individuals that meet certain eligibility requirements to receive the Pell Grant.
