BISHOPVILLE, S.C. —

An employee at the South Carolina prison admitted to trying to bring "a set of custom jewelry teeth coverings, commonly referred to as grillz, to an inmate," according to an arrest warrant.

Sharon Elizabeth Smith, 36, of Sumter, was a canteen manager at the Lee Correctional Institution.

She was charged with criminal conspiracy and was fired.

The arrest warrant for Smith said the grillz were worth about $2,500 and were found in her vehicle on Sept. 10.
