WAYNESBORO, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - There was no resolution Thursday in a hearing over the Burke County sheriff’s budget lawsuit against county commissioners.
Sheriff Alfonzo Williams has filed a lawsuit seeking a writ of mandamus essentially telling commissioners to stay out of his budget matters.
But a judge on Thursday told Williams and his attorneys to amend their petition and be more specific in what they’re asking for.
They have until Sept. 28 to amend the petition, then there will be another hearing.
The judge says Williams’ motion was confusing to read, and the judge didn’t know what they were specifically asking for.
The judge said the actions they’re seeking don’t apply and don’t meet requirements for mandamus.
