LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — An investigator has been hired to look into Fayette County Public Schools Superintendent Demetrus Liggins.

Documents show the board hired an independent investigator to look into allegations made by the Fayette County school budget director, Ann Sampson-Grimes, against Liggins.

School board chairman Tyler Murphy sent Sampson-Grimes a letter on Wednesday telling her the board had retained an attorney from the VanAntwerp law firm in Ashland to conduct an independent investigation.

Sampson-Grimes was placed on leave on Aug. 15 due to “inappropriate conduct.” In a letter dated Sept. 11, Liggins extended Sampson-Grimes' suspension by 20 work days.
