LEXINGTON, Ky. — At least three people have tested positive for West Nile virus in Fayette County, according to a news release from the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department. The cases were all identified from late August through early September.

The health department said all three people were adults between the ages of 33- to 77-years-old and were hospitalized because of the illness.

LFCHD also said the residents lived or spent extended amounts of time outdoors and reported being bitten by mosquitoes in the 40502, 40505 and 40509 zip codes.

Because of these cases, LFCHD said it will spray for mosquitoes in parts of 40505 and 40509 the week of Sept. 22, 2025, weather permitting. Spraying has already occurred in parts of 40502 and 40505 due to previously identified cases.
