Lake Station will again get a full-service grocery store years after Central Market closed.
The city of around 13,000 residents in eastern Lake County has been working for years to lure a replacement to the Key Market building at 3232 Central Ave., which was most recently known as Central Market.
A Chicago-based grocer plans to do an extensive renovation and open a full-service supermarket in the building, Lake Station Mayor Bill Carroll said. The new grocery store will feature a restaurant and Hispanic, Polish and other ethnic sections, as well as a full array of groceries, including fresh produce, meat and seafood.
