Second meeting of Coastal Counties Fisheries Coalition held on Sept. 16

Dare County has released information and a video of the second meeting of the N.C. Coastal Counties Fisheries Coalition that was held on Tuesday, Sept. 16 in Morehead City.

The Coalition was formed after Dare County Commissioner Chair Bob Woodard sent a July 3 letter proposing such a group to the board chairs of 19 coastal counties.

The letter was written in the wake of the NC Senate’s approval of a measure to ban shrimp trawling in North Carolina’s inland waters and within a half mile of the Atlantic shoreline. That ban was killed for this legislative session by the NC House on June 25 following vocal opposition and stron
