High School Student Hit by Vehicle in Union County

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating after a high school student was hit by a vehicle Thursday night, according to WTVA.

Senior Staff Sergeant Bryan McGee told WTVA the incident happened along Highway 9 as the student was attempting to cross the road near East Union High School. As of about 9:30 p.m., McGee said the investigation remained “fluid.”

The Union County School District also released a statement Thursday evening regarding the accident:

“The Union County School District is saddened to share that one of our band students was involved in a serious accident this evening. We ask our community to join us in keeping the student and their family in your thoughts and prayers.”
