LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - It’s been nearly a decade in the making, and work continues on River Heritage Conservancy’s efforts to build out Origin Park.

The park, when completed, will consist of 430 acres of restored land in southern Indiana.

The group said more than 80% of the land needed for the park has been secured.

“When you’ve been around for 10 years and people haven’t seen a lot of build out, and they say, ‘Is this thing really gonna happen?’ Well, it’s happening, we’re invested in this community,” CEO of River Heritage Conservancy, Dennis Schnurbusch, said.

The park aims to pump new life into an area long forgotten.

“We’re really starting to look like a park; we’re clearing out a lot of areas that had junk that had accumulated in it,” Schnurbusch said.
