Reasons for the policy change involve driver safety, including dogs, poor lighting and unpaved paths.
Amazon customers who had designated side or back doors as delivery locations have been requested to update their preferences to an approved option, such as the front door or outside the garage.
Customers who fail to make these updates will have their packages automatically delivered to the front door.
According to the commerce giant, Amazon drivers have faced numerous risks in areas with poorly lit or unpaved paths, as well as encounters with aggressive animals, sometimes leading to serious incidents.
