LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
The Louisville Metro Police Department has opened its new headquarters in downtown Louisville.
Mayor Craig Greenberg, LMPD Chief Paul Humphrey, and staff celebrated the opening at the former AT&T building Monday morning.
LMPD's honor guard took part in a flag-raising ceremony.
The new facility is still under construction.
It replaces the old headquarters, which was torn down two years ago.
"It was not a healthy physically environment to be in. It was not a healthy mental environment to be in," Humphrey said. "It was not a place that any city should call its headquarters. But what this does is it gives us a place to be proud of, a place where everybody can come and know that their city cares about them."
The fourth floor of the building is complete and construction
