BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — School leaders in Bismarck say the big outdoor sports complex needs an upgrade.

This afternoon, Bismarck school board members will be talking about a request for maintenance updates at the MDU Resources Community Bowl.

Bismarck Public Schools business and operations manager Darin Scherr says the bowl, which was built in 1997, will need the track and turf replaced and the bleachers to have structural repairs.

If the school board approves financing for the project, Scherr says the work could begin immediately after next spring's state track meet.

"Our hope is that we actually get on the schedule so that this can happen the day after state track, we will actually start the project," Scherr said. "The first thing they do is they do the track and then they build a lit
