LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - A man is dead after being hit by a car while walking across I-264 East.

Louisville Metro Police responded to a call of a vehicle collision shortly before 10:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22 at mile-marker 3.4 on I-264 eastbound, near Dumesnil Street and Bells Lane.

When officers arrived, they were told that the driver of the vehicle hit a man who was walking on the highway for unknown reasons. The driver immediately stopped and called for emergency assistance. EMS and Louisville Fire arrived on the scene quickly and EMS pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The driver was not hurt, but requested transport to a nearby hospital to be checked out.

LMPD said no other vehicles were involved in the crash and no charges are expected.
