SHREVEPORT, La. - KTBS is On Your Side and Answering the Call.

This week is National Child Passenger Safety Week. State police across the country are urging parents and caregivers to verify that every child is safely secured in a vehicle in a properly sized seat.

Louisiana State Police, in partnership with the Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force, will host a free event to get a seat check.

The event is Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport, St. Mary Medical Center.

LSP Troop G Trooper Eddie Thomas shared more details about the free event Tuesday morning.
