RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – A man is now in custody after leading deputies on a chase across Wake County on Tuesday afternoon, the sheriff’s office said.

According to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office, deputies pulled over a car at around 1:20 p.m. on Interstate 40 West near Buffaloe Road for a traffic violation.

After initially stopping, the driver sped away as the deputies approached the vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.

While one deputy pursued the car on Buffaloe Road heading towards Raleigh, a second deputy laid down stop sticks, which popped two tires on the driver’s vehicle, forcing him to ultimately stop on Sue Ellen Drive, according to the sheriff’s office.

The man was taken into custody and no injurie
