City-installed concrete barriers have shortened the distance for people crossing London Road near Sarnia’s London Road elementary school.

After about a month of the lane-reducing barricades on London Road, near College Avenue, to increase pedestrian safety, reviews have been mixed, said city engineering and operations general manager David Jackson.

“Anytime we implement something like this, it’s quite a change from what was there before,” he said.

“So, certainly lots of mixed feedback up front.”

Council opted to do something to improve pedestrian safety after neighbour Robert Dickieson renewed complaints in July about unsafe conditions in the corridor.

He’s voiced similar concerns for years.
