COLUMBIA, S.C. — The News19 Weather Team has declared Weather Impact Alert Days from this afternoon through Saturday evening.

It will be another hot and humid day across South Carolina, but changes are on the way. A cold front slowly approaching from the west will bring an increasing risk of showers and thunderstorms later today and into Friday. Rain chances will remain in place through the weekend and early next week, with temperatures trending cooler than what we have seen recently.

Today, southerly winds will pull in more moisture, keeping conditions muggy and boosting the chance for showers and storms. The best chances for rain today will be along and north of I-20.

A few stronger storms are possible, with gusty winds and heavy rain as the main threats. The Storm Prediction Center
