COLUMBIA, S.C. — News19 continues Weather Impact Alert Days for Friday and Saturday.

A cold front is slowly approaching from the west that will bring changes to the forecast over the next couple of days. The front will bring the potential for showers and thunderstorms that could cause brief periods of heavy rainfall on Friday and Saturday.

This raises concerns for some flooding across the Midlands. The Weather Prediction Center does have the Midlands under a marginal risk for excessive rainfall on Friday and Saturday. A marginal risk for excessive rainfall means that isolated flash floods are possible. Areas primarily affected include places that experience rapid runoff with heavy rainfall.
