Kingston Police have given the city’s licensing and enforcement department the green light to appoint six special constables.

Those special constables have been chosen from the leadership team and include supervisors, the director, along with the manager of licensing and enforcement.

The decision was voted on by members of the Kingston Police Services Board, which met for its monthly meeting on Thursday.

According to Steve Mothersell, the manager of enforcement services for the City of Kingston, as well as one of the chosen special constables, it was a request that was not made lightly.
