SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — After 111 dogs were recently rescued from a rural Plymouth County residence. The Animal Rescue League of Iowa, along with a local shelter, is helping them regain their footing.

"Those situations are always difficult to see and be involved in. But, you know, you just get into that mindset of, you know, we just got to get them out of there," said Robyn Dobernecker, the Animal Welfare Response manager.

On September 23, the Plymouth County Sheriff's Department launched a search warrant to rescue more than 100 dogs, with more than 40 of them living in small, cramped conditions outside.

"There were some large dogs that were in outdoor kennels," said Dobernecker. "And then there was another shed on the property that we could hear dogs barking inside."
