LAKEVILLE, Mass. (WPRI) — An 18-year-old man was rescued Thursday night after he was thrown from his jet ski in Lakeville.

Police said they got a call shortly after 8 p.m. that the teen had not returned home after a trip out on Long Pond. A short time later, they got another call from a Long Pond area resident about someone yelling for help from the water.

Lakeville Police Lieutenant Ryan Maltais was driving the police boat and found the teen about 45 minutes later.

The teen told police he was thrown from the jet ski and swam to Lewis Island, which is only accessible by boat.

Police said the teen was brought to Captain Bub's Marina, where he was evaluated.

The jet ski remains missing.
