LAHAINA (HawaiiNewsNow) - More than two years after the Maui wildfires, Lahaina’s famous Front Street is coming back to life.
The area, once filled with entertainment, food, and nightlife, was severely damaged in the 2023 fire disaster.
Now, a handful of businesses are reopening.
Among them is the Old Lahaina Luau , a traditional Hawaiian experience featuring food and entertainment.
The decades-old business opened seven months after the wildfires, following a blessing and a fundraiser for local nonprofit organizations.
According to Kawika Freitas, director of public and cultural relations, it was partly because many employees were eager to return to work.
“Within three months, we had at least 75 percent of our employees ready to come back,” said Freitas.
